4 youth arrested and released for bandh violence in North Sikkim


MANGAN, 10 April: Four youth were taken into custody and released on bail the same day, i.e 08 April, Friday, by the Mangan Police in connection with the trouble in the area during the Sikkim Bandh of 04 and 05 April by the All Sikkim Democratic Labour Front (ASDLF).
The four youth, hailing from Toong-Naga GPU, Ringhem-Nampatam GPU and Singhik were arrested following police complaints lodged by Coastal Company, Senior General Manager, R Ravindranan and staff that these youth entered the Coastal Company office at Ringang, misbehaved with staff and damaged office property on 05 April, the second day of the bandh.
Speaking to the media, the arrested youth and SDF supporters informed that on the day of the bandh, the office of the Coastal Company was kept open and that the incident transpired when the staff there refused to shut down the office.
