SMIT non-teaching staff pledge “whole-hearted” support for Sikkim bandh

GANGTOK, 01 April: The non-teaching staff of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Majitar, Rangpo, has pledged their “whole-hearted support” to the strike called by the All Sikkim Democratic Labour Front [ASDLF], informs a press release.
“The strike called by the ASDLF against the partial treatment of the citizens of Sikkim engaged in different industrial sectors and educational institutes within the state of Sikkim is a welcome step towards the restoration of healthy democracy and voices the problems and grievances meted out to bonafide Sikkimese who are often discriminated in these sectors,” the release states.

“We have faith in the Government of Sikkim. It has always been pro-poor, and has fought for the rights of suppressed and down-trodden Sikkimese class. We have nurtured the hope that every victimized Sikkimese is not emotionally, mentally and physically harassed in terms of benefits that are facilitated to the other employees from outside the state in these sectors,” the release adds.
The release further condemns injustices meted out to local employees and applauds the initiative taken by the ASDLF.
