HOPE Foundation organises rally cum awareness on World Anti-Drugs day

JORETHANG, 27 June: Students from Jorethang Senior Secondary school, Bahai School, St Francis school, local NGOs, Nagar Panchayat and Police officials participated in a rally cum awareness programme today to mark the World Anti- Drugs Day, informs a press release.
Organised by Hope Foundation, Jorethang/Namchi, sponsored by Sikkim State Aids Control Society and supported by Nagar Panchayats and Police Department, Jorethang, the rally was flagged off by area MLA, Madan Cintury, Jorethang Constituency.

The rally started from Parking Plaza, Jorethang and was followed by an awareness program on drug addiction, disease concept, consequences of drug abuse and HOPE Foundation’s work over the years by Project Manager of the organisation, Prem Chettri, the release informs. He informed that with the help of the police, Nagar Panchayats , area MLA and power projects, the organisation is planning to send drug users who cannot afford to go for treatment to rehabilitation centres.
Chief guest of the day, MLA, Madan Cintury, urged the youth to stay away from drugs and live a happy and peaceful life. He encouraged everyone to come forward and join hands towards making Sikkim a ‘drug free state’. He also appreciated the work done by Hope Foundation so far.
