Avenue plantation in Ravangla

RAVANGLA, 06 July: As part of efforts to make the State Green Mission successful, plantation drives on barren land, whether private or government, have begun across the state.
Range Officer, Ravangla, Anup J Baniya, informs that the “3HV - Three Human Values”, a youth club of Lower Jarrong, South Sikkim, took up avenue plantation from Bering to Dethang PWD road and Lower Jarrong JHS recently.

540 saplings of Guras, Cherry, Gogay Champ, Okhar, Lapsi, Thuja, Arupattay and Rani Champ were planted which were provided by the Ravangla Territorial Range, Forest Environment and Wild Life Management Department.
The plantation team covered a distance of 4 kms and also carried out maintenance work from Ravangla to Damthang (State Eco Highway) with the help of PWD labourers, JFMC, Panchyats, NGOs and local people under the guidance of Anup J Baniya.
Also participating in the programme were B.O. Ravangla, Sanjeev Chettri, Forest Guards, president, 3HV, LB Chauhan, secretary 3HV, Bikash Rai and other members of the club.
