Tumin-Lingee releases MGNREGA wages through smart cards

MANGAN, 04 July: In a first for Tumin-Lingee constituency, and only the second such initiative for East Sikkim, the Simick-Lingzey GPU under it disbursed MGNREGA wages to job-card holders through smart cards today.
The local panchayats, with assistance from representatives of the Central Bank of India and APO from Tintek Block Administrative Centre, disbursed MGNREGA wages to job card holders through smart cards during a programme at the Rural Administrative Centre. 
Wages amounting to a total of Rs. 66,903 were disbursed during the day.
Likewise, the bank has also come up with a provision of making wage payment through post offices for the workers without smart cards. The smart card wage disbursement programme is being initiated under the Chief Minister’s Universal Rural Financial Inclusion Scheme.
