Army choppers airlift 3,500 kg rations to North Sikkim

GANGTOK, 01 Oct: Army spokesperson, Colonel Ravi Patil, informed that 3,500 kg of rations were airlifted to Lachen, Lachung and Chungthang today by Army helicopters from Gangtok. While 1,900 kg was reached to Lachen, 1,300 kg to Lachung and rest to Chungthang.
He informed that on the flight back, 14 people from Lachung, 10 from Chungthang and 04 from Mangan were evacuated to Gangtok and Chungthang. Likewise, civil servants [2 to Lachung and 1 to Lachen] were flown to their respective destinations as well.
Col Patil informed that army helicopter also assisted the BRO in moving specialists to Chungthang today. He informed that supplies up to Chungthang are expected to be reached by road hopefully within the next few days and the main focus of helicopter sorties will then be on Lachen and Lachung.
