Gangtok Muslims pray for Sikkim, contribute relief funds and materials

GANGTOK, 30 Sept: The Muslim community here came together today to offer special prayers for victims of the 18 September Earthquake. This prayer was offered after the Juma Namaaz [Friday Prayers] at the Gangtok Masjid this afternoon.
The devout at the masjid informed that these were special prayers offered for the lives lost to the earthquake and to pray that the affected people found the resolve and unity to overcome the loss. “We also prayed that no such calamity hit the State again and for the continued peace and prosperity of Sikkim,” shared a person as he exited after offering Namaaz.
The Anjuman-e-Islamia, Gangtok, also contributed Rs. 20,000 towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund today and also handed over a consignment of relief materials to the Lachung Pipon, Chewang Namgyal.
The organization has put together 10 cartons of biscuits, 5 cartons of Wai-Wai noodles, 10 cartons of Mimi noodles, 2 cartons of noodles, 100 candles, 1 carton of match boxes, 30 torchlights with batteries and 7 spreads of tarpaulin.
