IDIA to hold career counseling prog on legal education

GANGTOK, 17 Oct: Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education [IDIA], a national NGO, has announced a sensitization and career-counseling programme for interested students from in and around Gangtok at Paljor Stadium indoor gymnasium hall on 22 October at 11 a.m.
The programme is being organised for Sikkimese students whose parents’ combined monthly income is less than Rs 40,000. The organization will also hold an IDIA National Aptitude Test on 06 November.
It was mentioned that the selected students will be provided free coaching in Kolkata for the Common Law Admission Test [CLAT] and those qualifying in the CLAT will be given scholarship for studying law, BA LLB [Hons], in the best law institute of India.
On behalf of the IDIA, team leader North-East Chapter, Jwala D Thapa and team leader Sikkim Chapter, Lekden T Basi, urged students to take part in the programme and to take full advantage of such opportunities.
IDIA is a non-profit and voluntary trust started by Ministry of HRD IP Chair Professor, WB-NUJS Kolkata, Prof Shamnad Basheer, in 2010. The aim of the trust is to ensure that legal education imparted in the National Law Schools reach out to bright and under privileged youngsters all over India.
IDIA is a wholly student run organization under the guidance of Prof Basheer which has been able to create a network of students of most of the national schools, bringing them together to work in all aspects of IDIA.
