New Generation Social Society formed for take stock of earthquake damage at Temi

NAMCHI, 29 Sept: All NGOs, SHGs and individuals of Temi-Namphing constituency have come together under the banner of ‘New Generation Social Society’ [NGSS] to take stock of the damages caused to houses, livestock and property in the area by the 18 Sept Earthquake.
A meeting-cum-basic training on Disaster Management for the people of Temi-Namphing was organized recently at the Temi Block Administrative Centre conference hall.
While addressing the occasion, area MLA, BS Pant who was present as the chief guest, stated that besides the devastating earthquake of 18 September, rumours surrounding the quake are causing panic among the people for which he urged the NGO to spread proper awareness. Appreciating the initiative, Mr Pant further urged the NGO and Panchayat members to work together for the people of the area.
The NGSS president, Robin Rai, in his address, announced a donation of Rs 10,000 from the NGO towards the Chief Minister's Relief Fund and informed that the group will survey the 10 wards of the constituency to evaluate the earthquake damage ad submit its findings to the BDO.
The various associations, SHGs and individuals who contributed to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund on the day are: Temi Christian United Fellowship- Rs 1000, Jonathan Adarsh Church- Rs 1000, Six Angel NGO- Rs 500, Prashant SHG- Rs 500, Lower Pabong Church- Rs 1000, Middle Pabong HFC Church- Rs 1000, Makhmali SHG- Rs 500, Prerna SHG- Rs 500, NAri Greenfield SHG- Rs 500, Darpan SHG- Rs 500, NAri Pragati SHG- Rs 500, Mainam Smriti SHG- Rs 500 and Sambridhi Sanstha- Rs 500.
Later, a training on disaster preparedness was organized for 27 volunteers, including the executives.
