Three utility vehicles vandalised

VANDALISM ON THE RISE IN JORETHANG BAZAAR
JORETHANG, 16 Oct: Three utility vehicles belonging to some businessmen of Jorethang were vandalized by some unknown persons on Saturday night near the Jorethang Bazar Shopping Complex-cum-UD&HD office.
The three utility vehicles bearing motor vehicle registration numbers SK 03/4612, SK 03/4887, SK 03/4956 belong to Bijay Kr. Gupta, Suraj Bali Gupta and Jeleshwar Gupta, it is learnt. Following the incident, a case against unknown persons has been registered at Jorethang PS but no arrest has been made by the police so far.
According to sources, Jorethang bazaar has been facing such incidents for the past two months with businessmen being targeted by this unknown group. The modus operandi of the incidents suggest these to be the work of one group.
Around 2 months ago, the shop of one Motilal was looted by some unknown person wielding a ‘khukuri’ making away with a loot of Rs 26,000 in cash but no arrests have been made by the police thus far.
Similarly, near the same shop, a poultry fodder shop of one Sunil Gupta was also vandalized. A suspect, current out on bail, was arrested in this case.
Expressing concern over the incidents, businessmen and local public of Jorethang said that they are worried about the safety of their property now.
