27th Nov Committee celebrates foundation day

GANGTOK, 28 Nov: The executive committee of the ‘27th Nov Committee’ celebrated its foundation day here yesterday. The meeting, chaired by its president, reviewed its past activities and unanimously decided on issues like, Local Protection Act, informs a press release. 
The members at the meeting expressed that the quotas for IAS, IFS and IPS should be reduced by 60% as it will help provide more opportunities for the locals as well as cut down the establishment expenditure of the state and also that the cadre’s strength in the state services be increased. 
Matters like no issuance of trade licenses to outsiders and confinement of enlistment of contractors to locals were also taken up at the meeting, the release informs. 
It was also expressed that Separate Cards be issued to SSC holders to nullify fake SSCs/COIs and that all the concession given by the Central Government to Sikkimese people be given to the right persons after due verification.
The meeting demanded that Rule 4/4 of Sikkim Govt. Servant’s Conduct Rules 1974 be implemented in both the Public and Private Sectors so as to provide employment opportunity to the educated youth.
The committee further demanded that “Power Projects involving tunneling should be stopped in the interest of the State and its people” and that the “State Assembly of Sikkim should pass a strong Lokpal Bill as done by Uttaranchal,” according to the release.
