Culture Department observes ‘Quami Ekta Week’

GANGTOK, 25 Nov: The Cultural Affairs and Heritage Department [CA&HD] observed the ‘Quami Ekta Week’ with different activities from 19 to 25 November.
As part of the celebration, the department observed Linguistic Harmony Day on 21 November with a Kavi Sammelan at Nepali Sahitya Parishad bhawan. The meet saw participation from 25 poets from across the state, where they presented their poems.
Likewise, the department had observed Cultural Unity Day on 23 November, wherein cultural programmes of Lepcha, Bhutia and Nepali communities was organised by the Song & Drama Unit of the department at the Nepali Sahitya Parishad Bhawan. In the celebration, songs and dances of the three ethnic communities of the state were presented. A guest artist from Kolkata also presented songs at the programme.
Both these programmes had the CA&HD Secretary, Nalini G Pradhan, as the chief guest, who highlighted the activities and initiatives of the department to preserve and promote the cultural and traditional heritage of the state. She also stated that art and culture helps to promote national integration and unity among the people.
