Gyalshing-Omchung ZPU becomes West PYKKA champ

GYALSHING, 28 Nov [IPR]: The 2nd District level sports competition, under PYKKA (Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan) for West district which had kicked off at Kyongsa ground here on 24 Nov concluded on 27 Nov.
The competition was organized by District Level Implementing Agency (PYKKA Committee) under the banner of Sports & Youth Affairs and was sponsored by Ministry of Sports Mission Directorate, PYKKA, GoI with the objective to provide universal access to sports and to harness available and potential sporting talent among rural youth.
JD, HRDD (W), CK Katwal who inaugurated the four-day Sports Festival on 24 Nov in her address, said that sports and education should go hand in hand and above all discipline is the most important to attain success in life.
On the final day of the competition Zilla Adhakshya (W), Karma Choki was present as the chief guest. Overall team championship was bagged by Gyalshing-Omchung Zilla Panchayat Unit (ZPU) followed by Yangtey ZPU and Rumbuk ZPU in the second and third place respectively. The chief guest gave away the trophies, medals and certificates to all the winners.
The competition had track and field events, football, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, archery,boxing, kho-kho, tackwondo and wushu for both under 16 boys and girls.
