Twenty Teesta Stage V Land Oustees Employees re-designated

EMPLOYEES EXPRESS GRATITUDE
GANGTOK, 06 Nov: Teesta [Stage V] Land Oustees Employees, have expressed gratitude for the re-designation of 20 employees as per their qualification on 13 September earlier this year, in a press release issued today.
Following the indefinite strike of 31 August 2010 in NHPC Teesta-V project by the Land Oustees Employees for re-designation as per their qualification, the strike was called off in the evening following intervention by the State Administration.
A meeting was held in the Office of DC (E) on 03 Sept 2010 wherein DC (E), D Anandan and SDM (E), AB Karki and other officials from the state administration were present. During the meeting the NHPC Management assured to do the needful and explore the possibility of re-designation.  As a result the eligible employees were sent for higher skill training. As per their commitment NHPC sent the eligible employees on training and after conducting a trade test 20 employees were re-designated satisfactorily on 13 Sept, the release informs.
The entire exercise needed a constant and tiring persuasion at the Corporate Office, and the same was done by NHPC Teesta-V Management under the able leadership of Chief Engineer (In-charge), D. Chattopadhyay, the release mentions. “We are very much thankful to the Chief Engineer (In-charge), D Chattopadhyay and Manager (HR), RK Verma and team for their vigorous persuasion with devotion at the Corporate Office and bringing out the result. NHPC Limited has fulfilled their commitment to upgrade the employees recruited under R & R Plan of Teesta-V project.”, the release expresses.
Mentioning that some of the employees opted for training within the state of Sikkim because of personal reasons and are undergoing training at ITI, Rangpo, the release further expresses hope that these employees will also get placed soon.
The Land Oustees Employees thank the Chief Minister, Dr. Pawan Chamling and his team, Minister, CB Karki, Minister for Power, Sonam Gyatso Lepcha, Area MLA Tumin-Lingee, Ugen T Gyatso Bhutia and area MLA Singtam-Khamdong, Am Prasad Sharma under whose direction the entire system acted upon and supported the cause.
The Employees have thanked the All Sikkim Democratic Labour Front, Vice President, BM Ramudhamu, General Secretary - I, Norzang Lepcha, General Secretary - II, Hari Prashad Chettri, Convener, Krishna Kharel and their entire team.
The release further thanks the then DC (E), Vishal Chauhan and SDM (E), Navin Chettri, during whose tenure most of the R&R issues were resolved like the Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R) Colony which includes Community Center, Primary Health Center, Electrification and Water supply system were set up at Dudherdara, Khamdong for the Land Oustees of Teesta-V Project.
“We are also very much thankful to the entire media fraternity who supported us and gave wide publicity at that time, without which we may not have gotten the desired result”, the release adds.
The release further requests the general public and the stakeholders of upcoming Teesta-IV HE Project of NHPC Limited to come forward and resolve the issues which are impeding the implementation of the project. It is quite visible to all that the NHPC being a Govt. of India Enterprise is committed to take up the developmental activities for the Socio-economic welfare of the general public in the Project area.
“If the project comes up, we the land oustees employee of Teesta-V shall also have a fair chance to stay and serve within our Sikkim state. Therefore, it is our humble request to all that due consideration may be given to the NHPC for implementation of the project, keeping in view the quantum of developmental works like those in Teesta-V Project, which is going to take place afterward, which may result profitable in the long run to the general public as well as State. So let us come forward and take steps forward for the development of our Sikkim”, the release adds.
