Agri Deptt hands over work orders for sanctions cleared during CM’s village to village tour


GANGTOK, 19 Dec [IPR]: In a function organized by the Department of Food Security & Agriculture Development Department/ Horticulture Cash Crop Development Department (FS&ADD/HCCDD) at the State Institute of Capacity Building premises at Karfectar, the department distributed various sanction orders/ work orders approved during the Chief Minister’s village-to-village tour and made payments to the farmers of these districts for completion of water harvesting tank.

Minister for UD&HD and Food & Civil Supplies Departments, DB Thapa, who was present as the chief guest made token distribution of various schemes and token payments to the farmers for completion of water harvesting tank.
On the occasion, Minister Mr. Thapa also released two Integrated Pest Management (IPM) vehicles and Soil testing bus for the South and West districts. The vehicles are loaded with state of the art equipments to manage pests and the bus with modern soil testing facilities which will be reaching all the far flung areas of the districts.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Thapa urged the farmers to work in tandem with the Government in realizing the dream of the Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling of making Sikkim an organic state by 2015.
He also informed that the government is very committed but without the contribution of the farmers it is not possible to realize the dream of making Sikkim an organic state by 2015.
Further he appealed to the farmers to make full use of the various schemes and sanctioned work orders given to them and work earnestly. Earlier, the chief guest also released the monthly agriculture newsletter and logo of Sikkim Organic Mission.
Four progressive Panchayat members from each district were also awarded for their commendable contribution towards agriculture during the function. D Lepcha of South District, YP Sharma of East District, UP Lepcha of North District and KB Subba of West District were each awarded with cash prize of Rs 5000, citation letter and shawl.
Minister for FS&ADD/HCCDD, DN Thakarpa who was present on the occasion as the guest of honour also addressed the gathering and highlighted that the present government is fully committed towards the farmers and the villagers and the various plans and schemes initiated for them in order to make them a potent force is a proof of that.
Advisor FS&ADD/HCCDD, BM Ramudamu and General Secretary Farmer Cell, Deepak Gurung also addressed the gathering.
