Animal Husbandry Dept conducts coordination meeting


GANGTOK, 02 Dec [IPR]: The Coordination Meeting of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Livestock & Veterinary Services was held on 01 Dec at the Krishi Bhawan conference hall here under the chairmanship of Minister AH, LF&VS Department, Dawcho Lepcha.

The meeting began with the welcome address and summary of the various activities and progress of the same by the Secretary AH, LF&VS. The Minister expressed his satisfaction over the developmental activities being taken up by the Department in consonance with the policy decision of the Government for the economic up-liftment of the grass root rural farmers through the Livestock Sector.
He appealed to all the officers of the Department to complete all the ongoing schemes particularly the distribution of milch cows by the end of December 2012. He also urged all the Scheme In-charges to prepare new schemes keeping in mind the current changes in this sector and the need of the farmers.
He further emphasized on encouraging rural youth with attractive ventures and motivating them to adopt Animal Husbandry ventures to develop private entrepreneurship and become self reliant. During the course of deliberations he also advised on coming out with a booklet on the achievements accomplished under developmental activities implemented by the Department.
All the Scheme In-charges, Engineering Cell and Heads of the Districts made a brief presentation of all the ongoing schemes including present status and date of completion.
The meeting deliberated on various issues particularly shortage of man power, lack of mobility and fund constraints at length and the Minister assured to resolve these issues at the appropriate time.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary, Director and all Senior Officers of the Department and Joint Directors, Deputy Directors/ Veterinary Officers of respective districts. The meeting was conducted by Joint Director (DI), Dr. KC Bhutia and concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Joint Director (E&T), Dr. PK Pradhan.
