EMRS Girls begin CBSE Nationals on triumphant note, dunk Haryana 37-12


GANGTOK, 12 Dec:  The girls from Eklavya Model Residential School of Gangyap in West Sikkim began their CBSE nationals campaign on a triumphant note today, humbling basketball giants, Haryana, 37-12 in the tournament opener.

The CBSE National Basketball Championship began today at Vellamai International School, Chennai with over 72 teams from India and the Gulf nations participating. CBSE Sports AEO, Pushkar Vohra personally welcomed the EMRS team, which was placed in pool F alongside big names Haryana, Jaipur and Kochi.
EMRS girls took on Haryana in the first game today and captain Nim Doma led from the front scoring 14 points in the opening quarter leaving Haryana shell shocked. She went on to score 20 points and the game. Haryana could not recover and the match ended 37-12 in favour of the EMRS girls.
EMRS needs to win only one more game out of the remaining two to qualify for the pre-quarters.
