Free Diabetic Detection & Treatment Camp begins in Tadong


GANGTOK, 07 Dec: A two-day free Diabetic Detection and Treatment Camp started at Ayurveda Regional Research Institute, Tadong, on Wednesday. The camp has been organized by Divyatham Group of Multi-Specialties Ayurveda Hospital, Odisha, and sponsored by Amrutrasa, an Indigenous Device for Diabetic Care.  The camp has Dr Uma Kanta Patnaik and Dr Narmada Biswas as the resource persons for the camp. The camp aims at catering to around 1000 patients in the two days.

Speaking in the inaugural session of the camp, Zilla Adhyaksha [East], Bimal Dawari, mentioned that the state government has given priority to the health sector in Sikkim to make it a disease free state. He encouraged the people to take full advantage of the facilities provided by the government at their door step in the health sector. On the same, Mr Dawari stated that to detect the disease in its early stage to cure it properly the government has also started mobile health camps at every nook and corner of the state.
The Adhyaksha also appreciated the role of Tadong Ayurveda Regional Research Institute in imparting ayurvedic treatment to the people in the state and has also been supporting the state government’s mission to make Sikkim a disease free state.
Research Officer In-charge of the Institute, Dr AK Panda, spoke about the various benefits of ayurvedic treatment. He also mentioned that continue exercise and good food habits help a person to stay healthy.
In the camp, an ayurvedic medicine, Amritras was also launched for the state. Dr Patnaik informed that Amritras is procured from a rare Vijayasar tree and the middle trunk of these trees bears a natural medicinal juice. He informed that Amritras controls diseases such as diabetes, blood pressure and obesity. He further mentioned that this medicine has proven effective in other parts of the country.
