Old Age Pension and other allowances enhanced


GANGTOK, 09 Dec: The existing rate of pensions offered under various schemes as well as the age criteria to qualify for these have been enhanced and revised respectively. The schemes for which the pension rate has been enhanced include the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, Subsistence Allowance Scheme, Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme and Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme in the State.

The revised rates are as follows:
Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme: Rs. 600/- per month to the age group of 60-79 years; Rs.1000/- per month to the age group of 80 years and above.
Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme: Rs. 600 per month to the age group of 18-59 years
Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme: Rs. 600/- per month to the age group of 40-59 years.
Subsistence Allowance Scheme: Subsistence Allowance from existing Rs.500 per month to Rs. 600 per month.
