Singtam couple arrested for drug peddling


GANGTOK, 05 Dec: A couple from Singtam, Sameer Gurung (35) and Aarti Gurung (32), were arrested yesterday after being found in possession of contraband substances. The arrest was made at around 12.30 pm when the Singtam PI, Chundi Chopel Bhutia accompanied by two other witnesses conducted a raid at their residence in Dara Gaon (Sungurey Busty).

The police recovered stacks of small plastic bags containing 4100 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon and two bottles of Recodex. The police also seized Rs. 80,990 recovered from the house.
The police informed that as per information received from sources, it was learnt that the substances of abuse were supplied from Siliguri the previous day. The police then made a move to raid the premises. Both the accused have been booked under Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act.
During interrogation, Aarti Gurung is reported to have revealed that the substances were supplied to them by one Bhanu who allegedly fled on learning of their arrest. She also informed that one Dilu from Singtam was supposed to get more of the substances from Siliguri but got arrested by the Siliguri Police while on his way back.  
This is the second time that the Singtam Police has arrested Aarti Gurung in connection with drug possession. [from NANDU DUTRAJ]
