A week out of jail, ex-convict goes ransacking again

GANGTOK, 09 Dec: The Sadar police, in a particularly swift response, apprehended a culprit accused of breaking into and ransacking three shops, within hours of the incident. The accused, 27-year-old Jeeten Mangar, is an ex-convict, having been released from the State Jail, where he was lodged for the past year on similar charges, only on 02 December.

According to reports, the accused, originally a resident of Kurseong, went on a ransack spree at Chandmari on the night of 08 December breaking into 3 shops there in search of valuables. He did not steal anything in particular but did cause nuisance and damage property apart from consuming a bottle of Rum from one of the shops he broke into, it is informed. He was apprehended by the police at 3 a.m. from Chandmari.
Earlier too, Jeeten is informed to have been arrested by the Sadar police for having gone on a ransacking spree in November 2009 when he broke into 7 shops along PS Road, Gangtok. That was not his first time either. He was earlier arrested for a similar offence in the year 2004 as well.
As mentioned, he was released on 02 December a week back. He is presently in police remand and the police are presently ascertaining whether he is involved in any other similar incidents.
