Army personnel spring to action in Kyongnosla fire


GANGTOK, 02 Jan: A fire broke out at a home in Kyongnosla village in East Sikkim on the JN Marg axis towards Tsomgo at 10:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve and spread to adjacent houses as well.
An official press release informs that a rescue team from the Army reached the location in quick time and evacuated the civilians.
The fire was doused with the help of water tankers rushed to the site by the Black Cat Army formation in East Sikkim. All the residents were rescued safely with almost no burn injuries and only a few with superficial injuries, the release mentions.
The injured were given treatment at the nearby Army Medical facility. The Army also provided immediate relief to the affected villagers by providing free food and pitched tents to house the inmates till alternative arrangements could be made, the release adds.
