Legislators meet discusses Panchayat and Rajya Sabha elections


GANGTOK, 20 Jan: A legislators meeting of the Sikkim Democratic Front was convened under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling at the CM’s official residence at Mintokgang yesterday.
The meeting deliberated on the upcoming Panchayat and Rajya Sabha elections and other matters. The CM, who is also the SDF party president, also handed over the responsibility of choosing the party candidate to the SDF Parliamentary Board.
An SDF press release issued by its general secretary [publicity], TN Sharma, informs that in his address, the CM said that although the SDF government has numerous achievements to its credit, the party workers should not become complacent until the government and the party does not achieve all its announced targets.
All works and announcements sanctioned during the CM’s village-to-village tour should begin without any delay, he further directed. Construction of 8,000 single storied buildings and strengthening all old infrastructures should also begin immediately, he directed.
The CM stated that there was need for good coordination between the legislative and the executive to deliver disciplined administration to the people. He also encouraged all sections of the party and the government to contribute for the success of the Cooperative movement started by the SDF party.
