More than 100 hopefuls make it to ‘Search for More Bhaichungs’ trials


GANGTOK, 06 Jan: Sixty-seven boys in U-17 and thirty-six boys in U-14 from across the state participated in the state-level selection trials under the ‘Search For More Bhaichungs’ scheme here at Paljor Stadium on Thursday and Friday.
These boys were shortlisted from the district-level selection trials conducted by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department at all four districts in the last week of December last year.
The trials were conducted by coaches, Milan Singh, Suren Chettri and Pushpa Gurung, on fitness, technique, speed, game sense and other required skills through different tests.

The shortlisted footballers from the state-level selection trials will go through the final selection scheduled to be held on 17 January here at Paljor Stadium.
Talented and skilled footballers of rural areas, who are representing the state in the National PYKKA Sports Competition at Bangalore at present will also be taking part in the final selection.
The shortlisted candidates from the final selection camp will be enrolled in the Namchi Sports Hostel for U-14 and Sikkim Sports Academy for U-17.
