CMRHM house warmings at Tashiding and Pakyong


GANGTOK, 19 Feb: The District Collector (West) and the Additional Collector (Dev.) handed over the pucca houses under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Mission (CMRHM) to three beneficiaries from Upper Gangyap and Upper Lasso wards of  Tashiding gram panchayat at a function here at Tashiding on Saturday. The function was attended by the Divisional Engineer, Zilla Panchayat (West), BDO Yuksam, Assistant Engineer, Junior Engineer, Under Secretary (CMRHM,West), Panchayats of Tashiding GPU, APO and other officials from BAC, Yuksam.
According to a press release, BDO Yuksam, Suraj Gurung informed that the houses were among the first lot of 128 which were taken up under CMRHM in 2011-12. After the applications were received from the nine gram panchayats under the BAC a team comprising of the BDO, APO, Field Facilitator, RDA and GRS inspected and verified the kutcha houses of the applicants and only those who were genuinely poor and living in kutcha houses were selected for the allotment of a pucca house under CMRHM by the Block Rural House Construction Committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Area MLA.
On allotment of the pucca house, site levelling work was executed under MGNREGA after which the selected beneficiaries were given the first instalment of Rs 50,000 and thereafter further instalments were released on completion of each phase of the construction and verification of the work by the BAC as per the operational guidelines of the scheme. A total number of five such houses have been completed under BAC Yuksam so far, the first of which was completed in September 2011 and handed over to the beneficiary, the release informs.
Similarly, Minister for RM&DD, CB Karki today inaugurated a newly constructed pucca house under CMRHM at Tenkilakha, Ward No.4 under Changey-Senti GPU, informs a press release issued by BDO Pakyong.
The house is the first one in 21-Gnathang-Machong Constituency and also in Pakyong Block that has been inaugurated and handed over to the beneficiary. The one storied RCC structure is a model ‘C’ type, equipped with earthquake resistant design built at an estimated cost of Rs 4.5 lakh.
A total of 222 allotment orders have been issued so far in Pakyong Block and at least 50% of the houses are targeted to be completed by the end of March 2012, however, the progress is retarded due to fund constraints, but in spite of this, at least six such houses are now ready for inauguration and twenty more are in an advanced stage of completion, the release mentions.
Present on the occasion were, Area MLA, Laxuman Lepcha, Adhyaksha-EDZP, Bimal Dawari, Upadhyaksha-EDZP, Asha Bhusal, Secretary-RMDD, Additional Chief Engineer, ADC (Development), East, SDM Pakyong, officers from Panchayat Cell, BDO-Pakyong, AE-Pakyong BAC, members of Gram Panchayat, Zilla Panchayat member and other field level functionaries.
The Minister also inaugurated a newly constructed Gram Prasasan Kendra at Tenkilakha on the day.
