SDF legislative meeting passes various resolutions


GANGTOK, 12 Mar: A legislative meeting of Sikkim Democratic Front party was convened at the official residence of the Chief Minister at Mintokgang on Sunday evening. The meeting, which was chaired by the party president, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, discussed and deliberated on the various present and future agendas of the state and reviewed the activities of the working committees of the party at different levels.
A SDF press release issued by general secretary [Press Affairs], TN Sharma informs that the meeting passed the resolution to pass the ‘Vote On Accounts’ provision in the upcoming state assembly session this month and will give priority to the ongoing works in the state. It has also been decided that the Panchayat Sammelan will be held on 30 March and will discuss the developmental issues and future programmes for the state.
The meeting also discussed the Panchayat Election scheduled to be held this year in the state and decided that after making all required arrangements by the State Election Commission and Rural Management and Development Department the official announcement of the election would be made, the release mentions.
The meeting also decided that a Tourist Carnival will be organized at Gangtok in the near future with the aim to introduce Sikkim as a tourist destination state in the national and international levels by showcasing the cultural heritage of the state.
The release further informs that the meeting also reviewed the development of the announcements made by the party president during the second decadal celebration of the party held at Jorethang and further reviewed the non-planned and planned budget, Special Package and ongoing projects under the North East Council Fund in the state.
The meeting also discussed the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme and Cooperative movement in the state and welcomed the CM’s announcement to provide pension to spinsters above 45 years.
In his address, the CM stressed that the people should come forward more actively to take part in the developmental activities in the state. He strictly directed to sincerely choose highly esteemed and committed social workers for the upcoming Panchayat Election in the state, the release mentions. While stressing on responsible politics, he stated that party workers should deliver their responsibilities in their respective levels.
The CM directed that all rebuilding works of the earthquake damaged properties should be qualitative and further directed the MLAs for their personal supervision of these works. He also directed MLAs to make a list of all those works which have crossed the scheduled time of completion in their areas and further directed them to complete such works immediately, the release adds.
