Sada ward records 96% voter turn-out, highest in South


NAMCHI, 04 Nov: In the South Sikkim panchayat poll, the highest voter turn-out of 96% was recorded in Sada ward under Borong-Phamtam GPU. Out of 102 voters 98 turned up to cast their vote in the Phamtam JHS polling station.
Similarly the Denchung ward under 21 Poklok Chisopani with the polling station at Nandugaon Secondary School recorded 93% voter turn-out for Zilla Panchayat poll. The total number of voters were 333 out of which 310 voters cast their vote and the male to female voter ratio was 186:147.
In the “hyper sensitive” polling station at Namthang Sr Sec School, 78% of voters i.e 252 out of the total 325 cast their vote. The other “hyper sensitive” stations at Upper Suntaley and Lower Suntaley under 22 Sadam Suntaley GPU recorded voter turn-out of 85% [85% male and female]and 90% [89% male 91% female]respectively. At Upper Suntaley 365 of the total 428 voters cast their vote while at Lower Suntaley 388 of the total 432 voters turned up.
Neyabrum Sec School, the polling station for Lower Neya ward under 4 Neya Mangzing GPU saw a voter turn-out of 88% [87% male and 89% female]. Yangyang [Gumpa] ward under 6 Yangang Rangrang GPU recorded 78% [80% male 76% female] voter turn out at its Upper Yangang JHS polling station.
The Upper Maneydara ward under 16 Namthang Maneydara GPU recorded 78% [76% male 79% female] voter turn-out at its Namthang Sr Sec School polling station.
The sealed EVMs have been kept in the strong room under tight security at the Namchi Senior Secondary School’s auditorium hall. No post poll violence has been reported in the district.
However, security has been tightened in the South district ahead of the counting that will take place on 05 November.
