Sangha MLA interacts with monks in Namchi

NAMCHI, 29 Oct: Sangha MLA Phetook Tsh. Lama, today chaired a meeting with monks and nuns here at Nadak monastery to discuss development of monasteries in Namchi. During the meeting, the Sangha members also placed their grievances and highlighted their requirements with the MLA.
Speaking at the meeting, the Sangha MLA said that the state government under the leadership of the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling has given equal priority to every religion in Sikkim. “We are living in peace here which our Buddhist religion tries to spread and follows. Sikkim is a secular state and monks and nuns are happy with the work of the state government for providing an environment where we can follow our religion,” he added.
He further informed that the state government is developing Sikkim as a pilgrimage destination and monks and nuns must support this mission of the state government which will not only give them many opportunities but also spread the knowledge and wisdom of Buddhism amongst the masses.
More than 150 monks and nuns from Sorok monastery, Nadak monastery, Wok Samten monastery and Perbing Samten monastery attended the meeting.
