SKM youth meet, Golay thumbs down unemployment allowance, demands regularisation for ad-hoc teachers

GANGTOK, 22 Oct: A meeting of the youth wing of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha was held today here at the party head-office. A SKM press release informs that during the meeting, 8 persons from Rhenock constituency, 12 from Khamdong-Singtam, 17 from Upper Tadong, 5 from Shyari, 5 from Upper Burtuk and 12 from Namcheybong joined the SKM.
Addressing the meeting, PS Tamang [Golay] stated that he was the voice of all Sikkimese youth and was in politics to provide justice and secure respect for all the youth of Sikkim.
On the government’s announcement to provide unemployment allowance, Mr. Tamang stressed that today’s youth do not need allowance but require jobs and businesses. He added that Sikkim students were studying to get jobs not take allowances. Mr Tamang said that when SKM forms its government, it will not give allowances but provide jobs.
On the ad-hoc teachers issue, Mr Tamang alleged that ad-hoc teachers have been subjected to injustice and added that there were ample instances of people close to the CM, Ministers, MLAs and Chairmen being regularized in service ad yet people in need were being denied. He demanded that all 3,000 ad-hoc teachers e regularized immediately failing which SKM will launch a concerted movement.
The meeting was also addressed by working president, Bharati Sharma, general secretary, MK Subba, youth chief convener, Roshan Shrestha and east district youth convener, Pawan Parsai.
