STTA team to play in National Ranking TT Championship East Zone

GANGTOK, 22 Oct: A 20-member Sikkim Table Tennis Association [STTA] team is all set to participate in the National Ranking Table Tennis Championship East Zone to be held in Municipal Corporation Indoor Stadium, Siliguri from 24 to 29 October. The team led by the coach, Norden Bhutia will be leaving on Wednesday for the championship.
The state team has Ram Bishwakarma, Kanchan Rai, Siddharth Bhujel, Amod Subba, Dinesh Chamlagai, Passang Tamang, Sumesh Chettri, Ayush Agarwal, Jigmee Shenga, Arpan Tamang, Chitiz Rai, Anurag Pandey, Jeewan Tamang, Paras Khatiwara, Bivek Rai, Moshina Khan, Tenzing Doma Sherpa, Neha Lama, Kritika Rai and Namsela Subba.
The team members have been shortlisted on the basis of their ranks in the 18th Sikkim State Open Table Tennis Championship 2013 held during the month of September. The team members underwent a rigorous 15-day coaching camp under the coach, Mr Bhutia at Paljor Stadium indoor gymnasium.
During a small function organized by STTA this evening, STTA president, CK Basnet expressed his best wishes to the team members and urged them to give their best in the championship. He stated that there is a lot of scope to make table tennis a career and to earn well.
He added that this championship would also have observers from different reputed organizations to pick players for their respective organizations. In this regard, Mr Basnet encouraged the paddlers to play their best in the championship to win the attention of observers.
Sikkim Veterans Table Tennis Association president, SB Subba encouraged the team members to give their best to make the state proud at the national level. Likewise, a senior veteran player, PJ Lama urged the players to maintain discipline and bring laurels to the state.
The function started with the welcome address by general secretary, Karma Bhutia and concluded with the vote of thanks by publicity secretary, Lomden Bhutia of STTA.
