TT to take over Namchi this week NTTA TO HOST 2ND NAMCHI INTERSCHOOL AND OPEN TT CHAMPIONSHIP FROM 24-27 OCT

NAMCHI, 20 Oct: Namchi Table Tennis Association, in collaboration with the South District Administration and under the aegis of Sikkim Table Tennis Association, has announced plans to host the 2nd Namchi Interschool and Open Table Tennis Championship here at Namchi Indoor Stadium from 24 to 27 October.
In a gesture which is bound to attract more participants, NTTA has not only kept registration for the interschool event free, but will also be providing free lodging and lunch to all students signing up for this segment of the championship.
Member of the organizing committee highlight that this is being done in accordance with the association’s main agenda – to provide a platform for TT talent from rural areas and promote the sport in South and West districts.
The interschool segment of the tournament will be played on the first two days -24 and 25 October. The organizers are confident that teams from almost all senior and senior secondary schools [both, private as well as government] of the State will participate. Two events will be held exclusively for south district players – sub-junior Boys and Girls Singles and Junior Boys and Girls singles
Outs-station school teams have been advised to bring a blanket with them in light of the spell of cold weather which has hit Namchi.
The final two days of the tournament - 26 and 27 October – meanwhile, will see the open category competitions.
For the open category, the registration fee has been set as follows: Rs. 100, 150 and 200 for Sub-Junior Boys and Girls, Junior Boys and Girls and Open Men and Women singles and Veteran Men Singles respectively.
The organizers further inform that they will be providing one meal per day to all participants.
The NTTA organizing committee has also conveyed thanks to all sponsors for their support and especially the Namchi-Singhithang MLA Binod Rai and District Collector [South] Prabhakar Verma who have extended keen support to the holding of the tournament. NTTA has also expressed thanks to its parent-body Sikkim Table Tennis Association and also to Sikkim Veterans Table Tennis Association for their support.
Chief Whip of the State Government, Ugen Gyatso Bhutia, is scheduled to inaugurate the tournament on 24 October accompanied by MLA Binod Rai as guest of honour.
