Nepali translation of ‘Sikkim: The Wounds of History’ released

GANGTOK, 08 Nov: ‘Sikkim: Ithihas-ka Ghawharu’, the Nepali translation of Biraj Adhikari’s book ‘Sikkim: The Wounds of History’, was jointly released by former Secretary to the state government, KN Sharma and one of the signatories of the 8th May Agreement, DN Tiwari, today here at Hotel Dzong. Mr. Adhikari is the president of Sikkim National Peoples Party [SNPP].
Speaking about the book, Mr. Adhikari informed that his book ‘Sikkim: The Wounds of History’ in English was released some years back and covers the period between 1973 to 1975 when the Indian Constitution was amended twice for Sikkim leading to the Merger. He added that the book talks about issues based on these two amendments and how Sikkim became a part of India.
Speaking about the history of Sikkim, Mr. Sharma said that the Nepali translation of the book would help to reach out to a wider readership. He also gave his suggestions on what could be included in the next edition of the book.
Likewise, Mr. Tiwari also spoke on the political history of Sikkim along with other issues related to the state. He further congratulated Mr Adhikari for taking out a Nepali translation of the book.
