SPCC accuses state govt of discrepancies in earthquake relief distribution

GANGTOK, 17 Nov: Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee [SPCC] has accused the state government of irregularities in the distribution of Reconstruction of Earthquake Damaged Rural Houses [REDRH] scheme.
An SPCC release states that this was revealed in a survey conducted by INTUC and party workers.
The survey was conducted by INTUC president, Kinley Gyaltsen along with senior Advisor, AK Bhatt, Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee [SPCC] general secretary [Administration], Rudra N Sakya and SPCC general secretary [Communication] Doncee Lama.
The party has alleged that many people affected by the earthquake have not received compensation till now. Compensation is not being provided in accordance with the severity of the damages, it is added.
The party has raised questions about the process of distribution of benefits alleging that “the rich are getting richer while the poor are getting poorer”. SPCC also plans to take up grievances of workers of Gati, ALCEM, Coastal etc both local and non-local, the release informs.
