600 senior citizens from Yangang-Rangang taken on pilgrimage tour of South Sikkim

NAMCHI, 17 Dec: Total 600 senior citizens of Yangyang-Rangang constituency were taken for a day-long pilgrimage tour to four major religious pilgrimage centres of South Sikkim. Senior citizens of 60 years and above of the constituency were taken on this free tour which was organized by the panchayats and SDF party youth leaders of the constituency under the leadership of Zilla Adhakshya, South, CL Gurung with support of area MLA, CB Karki.
The pilgrimage tour was flagged off by the Zilla Adhakshya from Yangyang.
The group started with the Buddha Park at Rabongla.  They were then taken to Samdruptse where they offered prayers to Guru Padmasambhava. The third pilgrimage centre was Chardham at Solophok. Here the devotees offered prayers to Lord Shiva and twelve Jyotirlingas. The final pilgrimage centre of the day was the Shirdi Sai Mandir at Assangthang.
More than 70 vehicles were deployed to ferry the senior citizens to the pilgrimage centres and back to their respective places.
Later, a formal programme was also organized at Namchi Community Hall with Chairman Tea Board, Gagan Rai was the chief guest.
Zilla Adhakshya South, CL Gurung while addressing the senior citizens informed that this tour was organized by the SDF party leaders, Panchayats and the party youth on their own expense for the senior citizens. He said that it is due to the far sighted vision of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling that the senior citizens of the state now have this opportunity to visit Chaardham in the state itself.
The chief guest, in turn congratulated the organizers for their initiative. He also spoke about the various developments brought about by the SDF government.
