Dentam joins select club of Blocks with more than 100 completed CMRHM homes

NAMCHI, 02 Dec: The Dentam Block of West Sikkim has entered the select group of blocks that have completed more than one hundred pucca houses under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Mission. Dentam achieved this record on 30 November.
Beneficiaries in the Dentam block have thus far completed more than 110 Model-C CMRHM houses. This scheme, which carries a government grant of Rs. 4 lakh per unit, is a purely beneficiary driven programme in which the beneficiary is given funds in four installments through account payee cheques upon completion of each stage.
The uniqueness of the scheme is that it has the conversion of MGNREGA in land development for the house up to a maximum of Rs. 50,000 which has now attracted the attention of national policy makers leading to sourcing of ideas by other states.
The Dentam block has been able to construct a number of RCC slab pucca houses in far off Jhakridunga, Sopakha, Ferek, Karmatar and Bhalukhop villages. The effort of the Ward Level Construction Committee in each ward, panchayats, GVK officials and the area MLA-cum-Chairperson (BLHCC) has really come handy in the success of CMRHM in Dentam despite many challenges encountered in terms of headload, attitudinal aspects of some beneficiary and the midway advent of time bound REDRH that required more parallel monitoring in implementations.
The Block has now handed over 60% of the total CMRHM houses allotted to beneficiaries.
