SDF opens GPU-level party offices in Lachen-Mangan constituency

MANGAN, 19 Dec: Sikkim Democratic Front party inaugurated new party offices at four GPUs and two Dzumsas of Lachen-Mangan constituency in North Sikkim on 17 and 18 December.
The first party office was inaugurated at Singhik GPU on 17 December by general secretary North, Hangu Tshering Bhutia. On the same day, party offices for Toong-Naga and Chungthang GPUs were also inaugurated.  
Likewise, SDF party offices at Lachen and Lachung were inaugurated on 18 December. The party office at Singhik was set up at the house of Panchayat president, Palchen Lepcha while at Lachen the party office was set up at the residence of Pipon, Cho Bandu.
The party office at Lachen was inaugurated in the presence of Lachen Pipons, Cho Rapzor and Cho Bandu along with the public. The Pipons and public of Lachen requested for an appointment with the Chief Minister. They also requested that the permit for visiting Green Lake be issued from Chungthang, land dispute with army be settled and increase in the salary of the NIC operator at Lachen who is getting Rs. 3000 per month at present.
In Lachung the party office was inaugurated in the presence of Pipon Lakpa Tshering Lachungpa and public. The Pipon and public here requested for the promotion of tourism infrastructure in Lachung, installation of Guru Rinpoche statue at Yumthang, increase in the compensation amount for land acquired by the army and also voiced reservations against hydel projects above Chungthang.
The people further requested for the inclusion of genuine beneficiaries in the REDRH list.
Speaking at the function, ASDLF general secretary, Norjang Lepcha informed that the people’s genuine demands and grievances would be placed before the party president.
General secretary North, Hangu Tshering Bhutia said that since the party office has been opened in all the GPUs, people should use it to share their problems and grievances for smooth implementation of party policies. The SDF party is the only party that can provide peace and development in the state with its pro-poor initiative, he added. He further urged all the people and panchayats to include genuine beneficiaries in the list for the upcoming Janta Mela.
The Zilla Adhakshya North, Anguli Lepcha expressed that a lot of work has been done in the villages by the SDF government under the leadership of Pawan Chamling and equal rights have been given to women. She urged people to share the responsibility of bringing about development in the villages.
