State-level conference deliberates Educational Planning & Management

GANGTOK, 09 Dec: A state level conference on Educational Planning & Management for district and block level administrators in school education began here today. The two-day conference is being organized by the National University of Educational Planning and Administration [NUEPA] in collaboration with the Human Resource Development Department.
The inaugural function of the conference had ICFAI University Vice Chancellor, SG Tashi as the chief guest.
In her address, NUEPA’s Department of School and Non-formal Education, Prof. Neelam Sood, said, “Sikkim although a small hilly state has done commendable job in the field of education and it is heartening to see the progress in the education sector over the past few years”.
The state has also shown progress in the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan with an increase in the enrolment, she mentioned.
Prof Sood appreciated the state government’s decision to allocate 20 percent of its fund for the education sector. She further lauded the state for providing education opportunities to all and infrastructure development.
On the conference, Prof Sood explained that the conference was visualized by NUEPA and has been conducted in different states. “This conference is a rare opportunity to direct and interact closely with field functionaries in education sector on various educational issues. It is also an opportunity to discuss the recent changes and trends in the education sector and exchange ideas”, she said.
The chief guest, Mr Tashi stated that the state government has given priority to the education sector and is in the process of providing the best and quality education to every student in the state. He added that the field functionaries can play a better role in making the government’s programme, plans and vision successful. He urged the participants to take advantage of the conference to work more effectively in this sector.
The inaugural function started with the welcome address by HRDD Deputy Director, HP Dhakal and concluded with the vote of thanks by NUEPA Associate Professor, Dr Madhumita Bandyopadhyay.
