Trinamool Congress dharna demands restoration of Nepali and Tsong seats

GANGTOK, 16 Dec: Sikkim Pradesh Trinamool Congress [SPTMC] members, led by their president, PT Lucksom, sat on a daylong dharna in front of the District Administration Centre here today demanding the restoration of lost seats of Nepali and Tsong [Limboo] communities in the State Legislative Assembly. Executive and other members of the party from different parts of the state joined in today’s dharna.
Mr, Lucksom mentioned that the main objective of the dharna was to demand the restoration of Nepali and Tsong seats in the state assembly. The SPTMC also plans to send a representation to the Governor and to its central committee members on this issue, he said, adding that TMC MPs in the Parliament have also promised to bring this issue up in the House.
The party will continue with its activities until these lost seats are restored, he said.
SPTMC general secretary, Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha stated that social justice and political justice go hand in hand. He added that Sikkim needs to bring back its pride, dignity, honor and a sense of belonging which has been lost in the greed for power and money.
“Forty-two TMC MPs in the Parliament will speak for the lost seats in the near future,” he announced.
He also mentioned that SPTMC will be submitting its memorandum on the same to the central body general secretary, Mukul Roy soon.
