5th Auction of Large Cardamom for 2013-14 held

GANGTOK, 09 Jan: The 5th Auction of Large Cardamom for the year 2013-14 was conducted by the auctioneer NERAMAC Ltd on 08 January at Spices Board’s auction Centre, Singtam.
A press release informs that the highest price of Rs. 1215 was for the clean bold Seremna variety of large cardamom from Hee-Gaon, West Sikkim. A total of 869.1 kgs were sold during the auction while the average price was Rs 1155.91 per kg.
The growers were very happy and satisfied with today’s auction and assured to participate more actively in the Spices Board’s auction centre, Singtam in future, it mentions.
The leading Large Cardamom dealers from Singtam and Gangtok had participated in this Auction. Asst. Director (Marketing), Spices Board, Singtam, CS Ghatani thanked the farmers and dealers for their participation and urged them to ensure quality and maximum arrival of cardamom in the Auction Centre to attract bidders from outside the State as well as to fetch premium price of their produce, it is added.
