Black Cat troops celebrate Republic Day with special displays for civilians

GANGTOK, 27 Jan: To 
commemorate the 65th Republic Day, the troops of Black Cat Division at Rhenock, with the support of the civil administration and locals conducted a recreational and awareness tour for the children of St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School and Kingston Institute on Sunday.
A press release informs that the tour included activities like battle obstacle course, demonstration of Rock climbing and rappelling, Weapon display. Basketball and Volleyball match between locals and unit team was also held, it adds.
The aim was to enhance the bonhomie between the locals and the Army and to celebrate the spirit of a true republic, the release informs. Activities provided a message to the children that they are cared for and also provided them an opportunity to understand the challenges being faced by the Indian Army in safeguarding our frontiers and motivated them to strive for higher ideals in life.
Another release informs that troops of Watershed Warriors Brigade under aegis of Black Cat Division, also celebrated Republic Day with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. Forty five Veterans of Dalapchand and Algarah attended the ceremony.
The programme commenced with reading out the messages of the President and Prime Minister. A Flag Hoisting Ceremony and tea was organised at Dalapchand. Information brochures and pamphlets highlighting the latest welfare, re-employment and self-employment schemes were also distributed to Veterans in Hindi and English, the release mentions.
