SDF Chelis convene GPU level meet at Lingdok-Namphing

MANGAN, 23 Jan:  The Sikkim Democratic Party Women’s wing convened a meeting at Lingdok-Namphing GPU of Kabi-Lungtsok Constituency today.  The meeting was conducted under the aegis of Cheli vice convenor, Dawa Phuti Lepcha along with district convenor, Khimoo Lepcha, secretary, Pintso Doma Bhutia, Zilla Member, Devi Khatiwara, CEC member, Sumitra Subba and other women workers and party workers.
The meeting was especially held for the welfare of cheli members and to discuss their support to the party in the upcoming election. The Zilla member of the GPU, Devi Khatiwara highlighted about the importance of the meeting and further informed that women of Sikkim have been given great opportunities by the present government.
Vice convenor, Dawa Phuti Lepcha stated that there is no substitute for SDF government in Sikkim as it has left no stone unturned in bringing about development and peace in Sikkim together with the welfare of women.
Speaking on the opposition, she urged the public not to get carried away by “seasonal politicians” who have no agenda and appealed to party workers to alert those who have been misguided. She further urged all the women present in the meeting to hoist the SDF flag and renew their membership.
CEC secretary, Sumitra Subba informed about the different schemes and grants for women being provided by the government and further stressed that unmarried women above the age of 45 years are also being provided stipend from the government.
Open interaction was also held where the village women placed their grievances and suggestions to the party. The meeting was being welcomed by Panchayat President of Lingdok-Namphing GPU.
A similar meeting was also held at Kabi-Tingda GPU on 22 January. In order to give a strong message, a one kilometre rally from 9th Mile to Lingdok School was conducted by the women after the meeting.
