Training on IRS concludes with mock drill in Namchi



NAMCHI, 24 Jan [IPR]: The three-day Capacity Development Training Program on Incident Response System (IRS) which started on 22 January concluded today in Namchi with the hands-on execution of IRS field exercise. The Mock Drill headed by DC (South), Prabhaker Verma was participated by all the concerned departments which were identified into different categories of Task Force as per the Incident Action Plan (IAP).
The whole mock drill exercise was carried out under the guidance of Retd Maj. Gen. VK Dutta who is a Senior Specialist on Nuclear Biological, Radiological and Chemical Disaster and an expert in mock exercises. Mr Dutta was the resource person during the second and third day of the training program. The selected sites to carry out the mock exercise were Central Park Namchi bazaar, DC Office and Namchi District Hospital with staging area set up in Namchi Singhithang Ground.
On the second day, table top exercise for IRS was delineated to the house. The roles and responsibilities designated to all the concerned departments under the IAP Plan were discussed at length in the house. HODs of different departments included in the task force of IRS presented their respective disaster management plans like SDM Namchi, SP South for District Police and Traffic Management, CMO South for Medical response, Fire Officer for Fire Services response.
This training was conducted for the Officers of various government departments from South and West Districts in order to become more systematically prepared to deal with emergency situation in cases of natural disasters in the state.
Commandant Nishit Upadhaya NDRF 2nd Battalion also participated in the mock drill and shared his experiences. Mr Upadhaya lauded all the departments for demonstrating seriousness and positive involvement during the mock drill.
