Two-day Assembly session begins today

GANGTOK, 27 Jan: Sikkim Legislative Assembly will begin a two-day session on Tuesday with the presentation of the first Supplementary Bill for the Financial Year 2013-14 and Vote of Accounts for Financial Year 2014-15 by the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling who is also In-charge of Finance and Revenue Expenditure Department.
The first day of the Ninth Session part II of Eighth Assembly is expected to begin with obituary references on the death of three former Ministers, Dugo Bhutia, Sherab Palden Lepcha and BB Lohar and one former member of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, GM Gurung.
The Chief Minister will be placing the Vote on Accounts for the period of another six months in view of the assembly elections expected to be held in April-May, it is informed.
On the second day, the House will discuss and vote for both Supplementary Bill for 2013-14 and Vote on Accounts for the Financial Year 2014-15.
Meanwhile, the East District Magistrate has issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC across a 200 meter radius of the Legislative Assembly from 9 a.m. on 28 January till the end of the current Assembly Session or unless withdrawn earlier.
