Training on organic farming and certification in South Sikkim

GANGTOK, 07 Feb: A day-long GPU level Farmers Awareness cum Training programme on Organic Farming & Certification under Sikkim Organic Mission was organized by Sresta Natural Bioproducts Pvt Ltd [SNBPL] at Rayoung-Tinketam GPU in South Sikkim on 05 February.
A press release informs that the main objective of the programme was to inform farmers on organic farming and its certification. The programme had panchayat president, Suk Maya Rai as chief guest. The release informs that the resource persons for the training were SNBPL manager, Mr Gautam and Maple Orgtech [India] Ltd Sikkim in-charge, Kishan Singh.
Speaking on Sikkim Organic Mission, Mr Gautam explained the Internal Control System and further spoke on the advantages of organic farming and disadvantages of chemical fertilizers with regard to health, soil and environment. Likewise, Mr Singh gave a demonstration on soil fertility management and pest and disease control. He also provided training on EM technology.
