Hissey unveils plan to develop Gangtok as State Capital Region

GANGTOK, 02 Apr: As part of his election campaign, Sikkim Democratic Front´s Gangtok candidate, Hissey Lachungpa has offered Gangtokians plans to develop the constituency as the “State Capital Region of Greater Gangtok” which will include all areas falling under the GMC and neighbouring constituencies of Shyari, Upper Tadong, Arithang and Upper Burtuk.
In a press release, Mr Lachungpa informs that this plan has been formulated because the population living in the capital are spread out in these constituencies; the problems are common and these constituencies are interlinked and connected and face similar difficulties.
Among his “Plans for Gangtok Part-I” are stress on Samaj, Societies, Voluntary and NGOs in each Ward, decongestion of road traffic, to connect entire Gangtok by cable car service, delegation of more powers to GMC, community utility space, smart city to make Gangtok a wifi enabled zone, promotion of terrace kitchen garden, promotion of Gangtok as city of flowers, city business plan to develop tourism and investment friendly policies apart from improving other basic amenities.
“I have already started work on an Apartment Ownership Act for housing facilities, where Sikkimese entrepreneurs can build housing flats for sale/rent and which will also give the buyers a sense of ownership. Today many people cannot have their flats registered in their name because of certain rules and regulations. The new framework of an Apartment Ownership Act will help solve these problems”, the release states.
Mr Lachungpa has also reiterated that the Sikkim Democratic Front under the leadership of Pawan Chamling is the only party that has maintained peace, progress and prosperity for the Sikkimese people and would continue to do so.
