East RO chairs final meeting on counting process

GANGTOK, 12 May [IPR]: Returning Officer cum District Collector (East) AK Singh held a final round meeting with the counting supervisors in the conference hall of District Administrative Center (East) here in the capital today.
The meeting which was called to impart the final training to the counting supervisors on counting of votes for the General Election 2014 which is due on 16 May 2014 saw the Returning Officer Mr. Singh briefing the concerned officials about the process of counting. He informed about the various dos and don'ts during the day of counting and while counting the votes or getting the results of the votes from the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
During this training session, Mr. Singh also informed them that the first round of randomization of the Counting Supervisors will be done on 15 May 2014 i.e. 24 hours before the counting and the final round of randomization will be done in the morning of the counting day i.e on 16 May 2014 just hours before the counting starts.
The Returning officer also informed the concerned officials about the sensitivity of the counting process and urged them to stay calm and collected during the process and in case of any confusion  report to the Returning Officer immediately.
He also informed that the counting of postal ballots should be completed before the counting of the votes in the EVMs.
