Health staff trained on disabilities

GYALSHING, 30 May [IPR]: A team of professionals from National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped, Secunderabad visited Gyalshing on 29 May. The team conducted a sensitization and training programme on Prevention, Early Identification & Early Intervention of Disabilities for doctors, Ayush doctors, ASHA workers, ANM and MPHW at the Community Hall, Gyalshing.
Resource person Dr. Rishkas gave a power-point presentation to the trainees regarding the identification of disabilities at an early stage. He informed that treatment after 5 years of age can be difficult and therefore, urged the gathering to keep an eye out for symptoms and refer such children to the district hospital for treatment.
Awareness kits were also distributed to the grassroots level workers during the programme which was attended by166 participants. It is also informed that a similar programme shall be conducted at Soreng on 31 May and in Singtam on 02 June.
