North VHSNC members undergo training

MANGAN, 07 May: Two-day training for all Village Health Sanitation Nutrition Committee (VHSNC) of Sikkim was organized by district health society, Mangan, North Sikkim today. The programme was organized for all the CDPOs, VHSNC members, ASHA members, Anganwadi workers, Councilors, Panchayat and social workers of North district.
The programme was attended by Mission Director, Dr. PM Pradhan and Dr. DL Lepcha, State Health Facilitator, Dr. Nabin N Sharma, Dr. Kaleon, Dr.Rojana Tamang and staff.
Joint Director, Dr. DL Lepcha informed about the services of NRHM & VHSNC where she said that health services are available at various levels and if any facilities are lagging behind as per department provisions, the public are authorized to ask the authorities for proper provisions. She also informed about the quality of health care, leadership and village health sanitation nutrition committee of Sikkim.
Dr. Rojana Tamang in her address informed all that, as per data of government of India, killer diseases of Sikkim are heart & blood vessel disease (20%), respiratory disease (18%), diabetes (12%), hypertension (9%), tuberculosis (9%), liver infection disease (12%) and so on.
Dr. Kaleon shared data collected through the CATCH programme and survey report of North district.
MD, Dr. PM Pradhan and Health Facilitator, Nabin N Sharma also addressed the gathering.
