Vajrasattva 100 Million Mantra Recitation at Rumtek Monastery

GANGTOK, 26 May: Vajrasattva 100 Million Mantra Recitation Puja (Dorje Sempa Dhungdrub) and Vajrakilaya Chham Puja (Dorje Phurba Drubchhen) will be taking place at Rumtek Monastery, Dharma Chakra Centre from 30 May to 09 June during the month of Saga Dawa (the month of Lord Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and Mahparinirvana), according to the Tsurphu Calendar.
A press release informs that the pujas will be dedicated to the long life of the Dalai Lama and the 17th Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje, the accomplishment of all their profound Dharma wishes, the removal of all obstacles to the 17th Karmapa’s activities and his quick return to his main seat in India, Rumtek Monastery.
The pujas will also be dedicated to the four regents of the 17th Karmapa, all masters of the different lineages of Tibetan Buddhism and spiritual masters of the world. In addition, the virtue of these Pujas will be dedicated for world peace, for timely rain for farmers, good harvest and livestock, a world free of epidemics, war and famine etc. and for the well-being of all sentient beings.
The Pujas will be presided over by the regent of the 17th Karmapa, Goshir Gyaltsab Rinpoche. On 08 June (the 10th day of Saga Dawa), the monks will perform the full day ritual Lama Dance of Vajrakilaya and other Deities starting from 7.00 am. There will be "Bumdrub" and Ritual Lama Dances inside the main prayer hall of the Monastery every evening from 03 June. There will be also empowerments given during the Vajra Kilaya Drubchen Puja, the release mentions.
In addition there will be free teachings at the Karma Chokhor Tashiling Mani Lhakhang (Temple) at Rumtek Monastery daily for one hour by Rinpoche Kalsang Nyima of Karma Shri Nalanda Institute, Rumtek.
On 09 June, the Pujas will conclude with Incense Burning Ceremony, hanging of prayer flags, Tsok Offering Puja, Long Life Mandala Offering and Offering of scarf to the holy throne and photo of the 17th Karmapa by Organizing Committee members, monks and the public.
The expenses of Vajrasattva Dhungdrub Puja and the Vajrakilaya Drubchhen Puja, will be borne by the HH Gyalwang Karmapa Remembrance Association at Rumtek Monastery.

All are welcome to participate and are requested to bring their mug and beddings if they want to stay over. Group accommodation for all participants will be also arranged by the Organizing Committee as usual, the release adds.
