Monks discuss High Court directives on Tashiding HEP

GANGTOK, 15 June: Monks and concerned public of Tashiding today discussed further action on the directions of the High Court regarding the writ petition filed by Sonam Lama [now the Sangha MLA] and Chewang Pintso Bhutia [of SIBLAC] demanding the scrapping of 96 MW Tashiding Hydro Power Project.
They gathered here at Gangtok today and discussed the various aspects of the judgment passed by the High Court and future action plan as per the High Court directives.
The meeting approved that as per the directions of the High Court, the petitioners will approach the Ministry of Environment & Forest seeking an early decision on the issues referred to it by the High Court.
Tseten Tashi Bhutia of SIBLAC made a detailed presentation on the issues decided by the High Court.
The gathering also felicitated advocate Zangpo Sherpa and his juniors for taking up the case in the High Court without charging any fee.
